Renew your items* online!

You can now renew your items* online! It's easy!

  1. Visit our website.http://www.lansing.lib.il.us
  2. Click on the link to our catalog.
  3. Log in to your borrower account.
  4. Click on “Checked Out”
  5. Check the box in front of the item(s) you wish to renew, then click the renew button. The updated due dates will display on the screen. A message will appear if an item was not eligible for renewal.
  6. You are responsible for any overdue fines or charges incurred if an item was not eligible for renewal, or if the item was overdue when it was renewed.

Of course, you still may renew items* by phone by calling 474-2447.


*Items not eligible for phone or online renewal are:
Items which have been requested by other patrons (no renewals.)
or Items that were InterLibrary Loaned (ILL) for you (in person renewal with the item ONLY.)

Computer Class Sign-Up Relocated

Sign-up for hands-on computer classes has been moved to the Adult Services/Readers Advisory Desk (near the fiction books).

E-Books Discontinued

We are discontinuing our subscription to the e-book service due to low circulation.

Our vendor, Baker & Taylor, said that although our subscription is now expired, the e-books will still be available for a limited time, but they did not give us a definite date. In the meantime, you may continue to access the e-books via our website http://www.lansing.lib.il.us

OPAL (Online Programs for All Libraries) announces upcoming programs.

There is no need to pre-register, and no cost to attend.

All you need to participate is a computer with an Internet connection. The software used for OPAL programs--tcConference version 4--works for computers running MS OS (Win98 and higher), Mac OS X, and Linux. All participants can communicate via text-chatting.

Be an Informed Parent!

Attend the computer lecture this Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 10:30 a.m.

Surfing Safe! Children & Their Parents on the World Wide Web will examine the benefits of children using the Web and includes safe surfing tips from experts.

Attendees will gain:

  1. An understanding of the basics of the Internet and the World Wide Web as an educational tool and source of entertainment for young people.
  2. An examination of safe surfing guidelines for children and parents.
  3. An opportunity to explore the Web for more information with suggested URLs.
